The minor team have booked their place in the “B” final by virtue of a 3 point win over “A” Champions Curry in the “B” semi final. Played in Tourlestrane before a large crowd of supporters from both sides, on Monday last, Tourlestrane improved on their performance in the “A” final and well taken scores, tough defensive work and an all around better team performance were the deciding factors in the victory. The team now face Enniscrone in the “B” final fixed for Saturday November 3 at 2:30pm in Markievicz Park. Due to the recent wet weather details may change. Further info at training. Your support of the team in the final would be appreciated. 
No further details are available for the date of the Senior League semi final versus St. Mary’s. 

The next monthly meeting will be held on Monday November 5 at 9:00pm in the clubhouse. All members are welcome.

Play continues in the Minor “B” competition on Bank Holiday, Monday October 29th   when Tourlestrane face Minor “A” Champions, Curry, in Tourlestrane. Originally scheduled   to face “B” semi finalists, Enniscrone, the team must improve their performance in the “A” final to gain entry into the “B” final. Due to the recent inclement weather the venue will most likely change. Please see team management for any changes to date, time, or venue.

The club would like to wish Jimmy Carr Banada, a speedy recovery.

Senior player Eamonn O'Hara made his mark in the International Rules test series played in Australia recently. Eamonn saw plenty of action in both games and will be returning to Tourlestrane this weekend. The club wishes him continued success.

Banada Abbey Secondary School senior team were defeated by Headford in the All Ireland Colleges Championship played recently.

The minor team faced Curry in the “A” Championship final on Saturday last, in Markievicz Park. In an entertaining game played in ideal conditions, a number of missed chances decided the game in favour of the opposition. The second half showed the true spirit of the team with deep determination. This team will now go through to the "B" Championship also versus Curry on Saturday October 27th. The senior League semi final is scheduled to be played on Sunday October 28th versus St. Mary's. The club would like to wish St. Mary's the best as they face Allen Gaels in the Connacht Championship.

In the Cumann na mBunscoil 7 a side football competitions held in Tourlestrane on Thursday last, the girls of Banada NS, and the boys of Drimina NS advanced to the next stage of the competition.

The under 14 boys hurling team have qualified for the “B” final to be played at a date to be fixed sometime in the near future.

The deferred under 21 championship got under way on Sunday last, when Tourlestrane travelled to Coolera for the first round. In a highly entertaining match, both teams served up some good football, and at full time Coolera were winners by a single point. Shane Dunne and Brendan Egan won the midfield battle throughout the game. A first half penalty by sharp shooter Patrick Quinn kept the team in touch throughout the game. During the second half some wayward shooting cost the team in the victory. A long-range point by Brendan Egan and a superb goal taken by 16-year-old Tómas Henry drew the sides level, with Coolera hitting the winner in injury time. Many of the team had contested the Minor final the previous day and more are members of the Under 16 team. David Henry made a welcome return to the squad after being on the injury list for the last 15 months. The team on the day was David Collins, Patrick Brennan, Colin Neary, Diarmud Dunne, Barry Kirranne, Stephen King, Michéal Henry, Shane Dunne (Capt.) Brendan Egan, David Henry, James Leonard, Padraig Brennan, Tómas Henry, John Marren, Patrick Quinn, Subs Ciaran Carty and Declan Egan.

The club would like to send sympathy to the Curley family Tourlestrane and the O'Dowd family Mountaffe on their recent bereavement.

The club would like to wish Brendan Leonard Drimina a speedy recovery after his recent accident.

The best of luck is wished to the International Rules team who face Australia in Adelaide on Friday. Senior player Eamonn O'Hara made his mark on the first test played on Friday last.

The minor team face Curry in the “A” Championship final on Saturday October 13th at 3:00pm in Markievicz Park. This game has been re-scheduled due to the inclement weather conditions last weekend. Any changes to date, time, venue etc. will be given at training. Your support of the team would be appreciated.

On Sunday last an exciting county Hurling final took place in Markievicz Park between Tourlestrane and neighbours Tubbercurry. Tourlestrane was forced to line out without top scorer Eamonn Walsh who sustained a facial injury at training last week. A goal after 15 minutes put Tourlestrane into the lead, which they held until the 55th minute when Tubbercurry scored 3 points in a row to win the title. Many hours of effort was put into the team this year and the club would like to thank all those involved in the team from players, supporters and notably, team manager Martin Brennan. The 2001 Hurling final team was as follows: Kieran Leonard, Shane Walsh, Brendan Walsh, Michael Walsh, James Walsh, Jerome Quinn, (Capt.) The minor team face Curry in the “A” Championship final on Saturday October 6th at 1:30pm in Markievicz Park. Tourlestrane have booked group tickets that are available from Club Treasurer Austin Walsh. The club strongly urges all supporters to get their tickets from Austin as soon as possible. Good luck to the team and mentors Michael and Paddy Henry who have put in many hours training the team.

The club would like to thank the sponsors of the Minor team, Dunwall Construction for their help and cooperation in 2001 and wish them continued success in their business ventures.

On Sunday October 7th all roads lead to Markievicz Park once again where it the turn of the senior hurlers to face Tubbercurry in the county final. The club would like to thank Quinn TV and Electrical for their generous sponsorship of the team this year. We wish the team and manager Martin Brennan the very best of luck in the final.

The 2001 parish hurling league was held on Sunday last. Matthew Flynn captained the winning team of Kilkenny. Members of this team were Sean Lynch, Ciaran Brennan, Bernard Brennan, Killian Gavigan, Sean Gallagher, Kevin Gallagher and Colin Gilligan. The defeated finalists Tipperary, were captained by Noel Gaughan, and these panel members were Daragh Gilligan, Brian Egan, Darren Gaughan, Joseph Kilcoyne, Eamonn Walsh, Andrew Kennedy, and Cahal Gavigan. Medals for this league will be presented when the indoor league commences.

Cumann na mBunscoil 7-a-side competitions in both hurling and football are taking place in the parish at present. In the hurling competitions held in Tourlestrane on Thursday last, the girls of Banada NS and the boys of Castlerock NS advanced to the next stage of the competition. The schools of the parish will compete in the football competition on Thursday October 4th at 11:00 am in Tourlestrane.

The under 14 boys hurling team have qualified for the “B” final to be played soon versus the winners of Calry and Western Gaels.

The minor girls were defeated in the county semi final by a much stronger Castleconnor team. Playing without a number of regulars the team couldn’t hold their form and went down by a 6 point margin,
